If you're inspired by one of these volunteer roles and want to make a difference, we’d love to hear from you! When you find a role that aligns with your interests and strengths, simply fill out our short interest form. A member of our team will follow up with you to answer questions, discuss next steps, and help you get started. Your time and talents can help uplift siblings and families across California—thank you for being part of this movement!

Volunteer Projects

Community Partnership Coordinator

Build relationships with advocacy partners and community organizations.

Time Commitment: 1–4 hours/month

Represent CaliforniaSibs in coalition spaces and participate in networking opportunities. Must be comfortable with public speaking or networking.

Graphic Design & Communications Contributor

Create or modify images and documents.

Time Commitment: 2–4 hours/month

Help us bring the sibling movement to life through bold, inclusive visual storytelling. Design graphics and visual content for our website, social media, and outreach materials—including event flyers, policy snapshots, sibling stories, and program promotion.

Social Meet Up Co-Host

Co-host sibling meet-ups in your area.

Time Commitment: 3–6 hours/event

Plan and lead occasional in-person or virtual gatherings in your local California community.

OSK! Subject Matter Project Contributor

Collaborate on our groundbreaking guide for adult Sibs in California.

Time Commitment: bi-weekly meetings, 2-8 hours/month

As an OSK! Guide Contributor, you’ll help create a resource for adult siblings navigating California’s disability support system. Collaborate with CaliforniaSibs, share expertise or lived experience, and shape content on legal, healthcare, housing, and planning topics. Empower families to make informed, person-centered decisions through accessible, sibling-informed guidance.

Contact Database Builder

Find and enter contact information for organizations in our community.

Time Commitment: 2–4 hours/month

Help grow and organize our statewide sibling network by researching and inputting contacts for sibling allies, regional agencies, and disability partners into our CRM, supporting outreach, partnerships, and engagement.
Ideal for detail-oriented volunteers who enjoy lists, systems, and behind-the-scenes impact.

Policy & Advocacy Contributor

Research existing policies and develop position statements.

Time Commitment: 2–5 hours/month

Work with fellow advocates to influence local and statewide policies affecting siblings and people with disabilities.

Storytelling & Media Contributor

Collect and share sibling stories across platforms.

Time Commitment: 2–6 hours/month

Interview siblings and edit stories in narrative, audio, or video form. Background in media, journalism, or social media a plus.

Advisory Council

High Fives

The CaliforniaSibs Advisory Council is a diverse group of siblings and allies who provide insight, guidance, and lived experience to help shape our programs, priorities, and advocacy efforts. Council members offer feedback on initiatives, share ideas from their communities, and help ensure our work stays rooted in the real experiences of siblings across California. This is a collaborative, inclusive space where your voice helps drive change. Members meet quarterly and may contribute to special projects or events throughout the year.
